Zoomed on Blooms II
A few years ago, I bought myself a super telephoto zoom lens for the national park trips I was making at the time, since COVID restrictions had made international travel pretty near impossible. It was great for getting some really crisp and up-close photos of wildlife, but back at home, I wondered if I could use it around the Disneyland Resort. Well, I lugged the giant thing over, got it through security, and played around with it. Most subjects ended up being very magnified, since its starting point zoom was already at 150mm, but I did love how it performed shooting across the entire corridor of Main Street, U.S.A., with that 500mm zoom really compressing the perspective and making the castle appear nice and large and substantial--an attribute that applies least to Disneyland's castle out of all the Disney castles around the world. The fact that it was a lovely, blooming spring day made the scene even more sumptuous, and that golden hour setting yielded a marvelous little springtime moment captured in time!
