Welcoming the Year of the Snake

Happy Lunar New Year! This year marks the year of the snake, so today is a serpent-themed post!  Challengingly, Disney doesn't have an abundance of ophidian representation in the parks, so my photo options seemed to boil down to the Jungle Book scene of FANTASMIC! or the giant snake encounter in the Indiana Jones Adventure.  Given the challenging conditions and low success rate of crisp, sufficiently lit photos on the E-Ticket attraction, that meant my much more abundant FANTASMIC! photo collection won out!

The snake is the sixth animal on the Chinese zodiac, coming after the dragon and before the horse.  From an astrological sense, snakes are supposed to be wise, charming, strategic, calm, and analytical.  They are good communicators and have determined personalities.  Snakes supposedly have good intuition and should trust their instincts.  How much you believe in this is up to you, of course, but it's a fun bit of Chinese culture that takes the forefront during this time of year.  In the meantime, enjoy these photos of the very colorful Kaa making his way around the stage on Tom Sawyer's Island during FANTASMIC!
