Before Those Hollywood Nights
When I first starting taking photos at the Disneyland Resort on a regular basis, trying to capture the ambiance and feel of the parks' so many evocative and transportive spaces, I had a habit of focusing on the quality of light during golden hour, which enhanced the already romantic environs of the Disney parks. This scene from Disney California Adventure's Hollywood Land is a good example. It's nothing special from a compositional point of view, but captures the last rays of the sunset before the moodiness of evening dusk sets in. There is no particular subject. Instead, the atmosphere of Hollywood Blvd imbues the scene. It feels warm and fuzzy to me, because I can put myself into the scene. Plus, this photo was taken nine years ago, so at this point, it's kind of nostalgic!
