The Elegance of Eeriness

I rarely post portrait photos on this blog, because the way Google's Blogger functionality works, portrait photos are not the same width as landscape photos when they render on the page.  It's an OCD thing for me... I want photos to appear a consistent width below text no matter what their orientation.

But this photo of Phantom Manor is such a moody and evocative scene that it deserves to be shared here in portrait, even though I have to shift the photo to the side and constrain my text to the side of the photo instead of above the photo like usual.  The composition makes itself, with the warmth of the lighting and steps zig-zagging in perspective the naturally lead one's eye toward the manor itself, bathed in a ghostly blue hue.

Of course, the fact that Phantom Manor bears a great resemblance to the infamous Psycho House helps enhance its spook credentials, and this makes this very intentionally crafted angling of the Disneyland Paris Frontierland icon look eerie and epic!
