Storytime with Deadpool

I was on vacation last month and didn't have a chance to check out Storytime with Deadpool until last week, but I'm glad I made it to the parks before the merc with a mouth ended his run at the parks.  As they have done with its other movie and Disney+ releases, Marvel coordinates characters from their currently released series to appear as limited time special guests at Avengers Campus, and the most unconventional superhero has been hanging out at Disney California Adventure over the past month!

Deadpool's main appearance is via the simple but entertainingly fourth wall breaking Storytime with Deadpool show.  It's a very low-tech setup, with Deadpool coming out in the Hyperion Theater queue plaza to tell his version of several classic Disney stories, including Cinderpool, Beautypool and the Wolverbeast, and Little Red Deadpool (those are three that I caught, at least).  In classic Deadpool fashion, there are lots of inside jokes and groaners, including innuendos that kids likely wouldn't understand but adults definitely will. There are digs at Disney (including one suprising Disney+ terms and conditions zinger referencing a recent lawsuit), puns referencing recent Marvel news announcements, and even an appearance by Wolverine in classic attire.  

Some may not like Deadpool's association at Disney, given his decidedly mature content in his movies and comics, but Disney California Adventure has always been the more adult-centric park of the two at the Disneyland Resort, and none of the content here is overtly adult.  It's not that far of a step from little details and jokes in classic Disney and Pixar films that hit a different way for grown-up's compared to when they were kids.  In any case, Deadpool will depart from DCA soon, as all of their limited time characters do. So catch him before he's gone!
