The Waikolohe Vista
While I feel like I'm often able to capture the essence and emotional impact of a scene on camera with my experience in photography, there are still instances where the picture really doesn't do the real scene justice. Such an example is the Waikolohe Valley at the Aulani Resort. Unfolding before guests as they come out through the Maka'Ala lobby, it unfolds in layers, spreading out like a grand, sweeping landscape toward the ocean. The vegation layers on and obstructs the sense of depth in photographic form, but in real life, it adds an immense amount of richness as it weaves with the Waikolohe Stream toward the Pu'u Kilo peak. The nighttime scene, with the stars twinkling above, add to the magic, but I would still say one has to come here and see it in person to really gain a sense of this scene's majesty!
The evening glow in the Waikolohe Valley is a scene of serenity. |
