Last Station in Town
It's been a long time since I've posted a picture of one of the first sights guests see when entering Disney California Adventure. Or in this angle, it could be the last view before exiting the park. But Oswald's Filling Station celebrates the Lucky Rabbit that came before Mickey Mouse was even born, back before Walt Disney started his own animation studio. Oswald was a character Walt created with Ub Iwerks for Universal Pictures--yes, there's been a relationship between Disney and Universal since the very beginning--but a dispute left Walt on the short end of the ownership stick, so he ended up creating one Mickey Mouse after branching out on his own.
This filling station that doubles as a souvenir stop doesn't delve into that history, but it is a nice nod to deep Disney lore!
