The Story of the Islands

The Maka'ala Lobby, the grand entrance of the Aulani Resort, is a wonderful and authentic tribute to Hawaiian culture.  In addition to drawing its architectural inspiration from the island vernacular, it also features artistic elements and patterns from the Hawaiian islands, not to mention a sprawling mural wrapping around the entire central space, telling various stories about the history and traditions of the land and way that Hawaiians have interacted and depended on the nature around them.  It's an inspiring place that speaks to the diligence that Disney Imagineers put into developing this unique resort, and it's also just nice to take in this grand gathering area that faces both the mountains and the sea!
