The Toontown Sparkle
When I look at my photos of Mickey's Toontown in Anaheim and Tokyo Disneyland's Toontown, I'm struck by the difference in how much cleaner, more vibrant, and energized the Japanese iteration is. Although the two lands are mirrors of each other, Tokyo's looks perpetually fresh and brand new--a testament to the excellent upkeep and maintenance that the Japanese pride themselves in performing. Little touches like extra landscaping or more frequent architectural repainting may be subtle, but added up together, they create a synergy of quality that seems to outshine the original. That's why even though the scenes and frames may be similar, the ones from Tokyo seem to always have a little extra pop. At least I think so.
