The Birds of Paradise
As classic of an attraction as the Enchanted Tiki Room is, it was not one that I ever experienced in all my years of going to Disneyland until I hit my twenties. This makes me a terrible Disney fan, but in my defense, as a child, I was more focused on the big, exciting E-Ticket rides like Space Mountain and the Indiana Jones Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean and the such. I didn't even quite realize that there was this lovely little show at the entrance of Adventureland that had been around since the 60s. Once I did make a visit to paradise, though, I understood why and how it's been a beloved classic over so many years. Though the animatronic technology is certainly rudimentary by Disney standards, the music, the story, and the heart of the show are timeless. The Enchanted Tiki Room epitomizes Disney magic, because it always inspires a smile. It's a warm, lively, entertaining piece of Disney history that hopefully be with us for a long time to come!
