The Spires of Disneyland

Today is the day... a day that will live in Disneyland history.  Today, Disneyland Park opens its largest expansion ever, the 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.  Starting today, guests with reservations will be able to venture to the distant planet of Batuu, a dusty, forgetten world on the edge of Wild Space, where the scum and villainy come to hide, and also the adventurers and the resistance fighters, and those who want to stay off the beaten path.  Today harkens a new era of immersive and interactive theme park design, where guests aren't simply visiting the recreation of a world, they're experiencing a freshly imagined one that surrounds them in theme, in thrills, in interaction...  The sights, the smells, the adventures all play together to tell a story, and I can't wait to be a part of this.

Barring catastrophe, expect a lot of "Star Wars Land" photos in the upcoming week and beyond.  We've been waiting for this land for four years... and for forty two years in some ways...  It's amazing to see it finally come to life.

The rocky buttes of Big Thunder Mountain juxtapose nicely with the craggy spires of Batuu.

The skyline of the park has been forever changed.

Ancient, giant, petrified trees turned into towering rock formations.

They beckon beyond the Rivers of America.

It's the old west in foreground, and a galaxy far, far away in the background.

What lurks behind the rocks and the trees is unveiled today.

May the Force be with you.
