About a month ago, I kicked off a return to foreign Disney park photos by sharing images of
Aquatopia, a whimsical, pointless, and utterly fun attraction at Tokyo Disney Sea that uses the same sort of trackless ride technology as Disney California Adventure's Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters. The bragging rights that Aquatopia owns, however, are that it was utilizing said technology nearly 20 years ago, when the park first opened.
Regardless, the setting and the ride are utterly enjoyable--a lovely pool of spinning and turning and backtracking that leaves guests guessing on the route. It's not a bumper boat attraction--as I first thought when I learned about the park when it first opened. But it's still very enjoyable, and that's the important thing!

Boats take a cruise on Aquatopia on a beautiful day. |

The Nemo & Friends SeaRider (scaffolding in the background) was under construction at the time I visited. The previous year, the attraction had still been StormRider, though Aquatopia had been closed for refurbishments. |

A whirlpool is one of several curious features. |

And the water can get a little unruly at times too! |
