Two weeks ago, I took a vacation to New York for the first time in my life. A lot of people express shock when they hear that I've never been before, given the extents of my international travel. But yeah, I had never been to New York City before.
The trip was fun, and busy, and action packed, and sometimes a bit stressful with figuring out how to get around in a sprawling metropolis with just so many things to do. But at the end of the trip, I found myself definitely wanting to go back, because the city is such a rich tapestry of diverse attractions.
The experience has also given me a new perspective whenever I'm editing photos from Tokyo Disney Sea's American Waterfront, whose main area is derived from classic New York at the turn of the last century. The gritty and romantic low rise buildings form a scenic atmosphere all around, and I could see the inspiration in some of the areas of the land to actual locations in New York. Of course, one key difference is that Tokyo Disney Sea's version of New York is way cleaner than the real thing (both are beautiful in their own rights). I guess that makes reason #29183 for why this park is the "Sea of Dreams." Dream being the operative word for a clean New York!
