Garden of the Twelve Friends

One of the "attractions" (really just a walk-by and photo spot) in Shanghai Disneyland's Gardens of Imagination is the Garden of the Twelve Friends, a series of mosaics depicting the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiacs as portrayed by equivalent Disney characters.  It's a very cute gesture toward Chinese culture, as the characters range from well-known modern day Disney characters like Remy from Ratatouille, Hamm from the Toy Story series, and Maximus from Tangled to famous classic characters like Tigger and Pluto and Kaa to even more obscure characters, like Babe the Blue Ox from Disney's 1958 animated short movie, Paul Bunyan and the Jolly Holiday lambs from Mary Poppins.  This walk was developed with the intention of paying homage to an intrinsic part of Chinese culture... part of Walt Disney Imagineering's effort to create a park that was "authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese."  And while it's no thrilling E-Ticket, it's still a pleasant and quaint part of a lovely Magic Kingdom park!

The Garden of the Twelve Friends is the Disney twist on the traditional Chinese zodiac.
The rat, the ox, and the tiger...
The rabbit, the dragon, and the snake...
The horse, the ram (or sheep), and the monkey...
Finally, rounding out the Chinese zodiac, the rooster, the dog, and the pig.
