Dia de los Muertos Close-Ups
The Dia de los Muertos display at Zocalo Park is filled with lots of great little details, illustrating the preparations that families in Mexico traditionally make to honor the dead. It is literally a feast for the ancestors, decked out in a colorful macabre style, and the festive nature is a contrast to the darker, more serious tone Halloween typically takes in the States.
Here are some snapshots of some of the things one can spot upon taking a closer look.

A dead band "plays" at the display. |
But offerings for the dead can be seen on the tabletops. |
These are coupled with flowers and dolls and sweets. |
It's all quite pretty, especially in the afternoon sun. |
The display is the same each year, but I think it's a nice little feature during Halloween Time! |
