For devoted Disneyland fans, the Disneyland Fire Department holds a special place in their hearts. Not necessarily because of the fire department space itself, but rather because of the space above it. On the second floor, overlooking Town Square, is Walt's personal apartment. Walt had it built as a part of Disneyland so that he could stay at the park to oversee operations and be more intimately involved with the park. It provided a convenient place to stay after observing guests or interacting with park cast members. As a tribute to his memory, the window from the apartment overlooking the park always has a candle that remains lit to represent his spirit. But during the holiday season, there is a Christmas tree as well--a reflection of the season and another warm, nostalgic symbol of care.
