Have a specialty lens long enough, and you start to experiment with different angles and perspectives to really amp up the effects and characteristics of that lens. So in the shot below, I'm using my Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 wide angle zoom at its widest angle to really capture the upward, soaring nature of the four piers that anchor the new entrance to Disney California Adventure. Looking at this live will, of course, reveal that these plinths are all quite vertical, but I find it fun to exaggerate the perspective with help from a wide angle. Frankly--and maybe it's just the architect in me--but things just look a lot cooler when shot wide, with the perspective emphasized!
