At Disneyland, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride sort of goes through in reverse. After plunging down two waterfalls, riders find themselves in eerie scenes featuring pirate skeletons, some still locked in battle, all showcasing what a pirate's life truly was like... and how it often ended. Only later on in the second half of the ride do pirates appear more "in the flesh." But this beginning half sets the mood for a dark but fun and adventurous attraction--a favorite of Disney-goers throughout the generations.
